Put On The Whole Armor Of God
The apostle Paul told the Ephesians they were in a war, but, clothed in the Whole Armor Of God The Victory Was Theirs.
Finally, be strong in The Lord and His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (Ephesians 6:10-13)
1. Stand firm with the Belt Of Truth buckled around your waist 2. Put on the Breastplate Of Righteousness 3. Your feet fitted with the Readiness that comes from The Gospel Of Peace 4. Take up the Shield Of Faith to extinguish all the flaming arrows of Satan 5. Put on the Helmet Of Salvation 6. Take The Sword Of The Spirit, which is The Word Of God (The Bible)
The Armor Of God (By Pastor Charles Stanley) Aggravations. Frustrations. Feelings of inadequacy. Moments of doubt or even fear. Where do these emotions come from? Are they self-imposed? Or do we have another force working against us, someone who, if he could, would destroy our peace and give solid evidence to our deepest fears? It would be wrong for us to assume or give credit to Satan for everything that goes wrong in our lives. Certainly, the last thing we need to do as believers is to con- stantly focus our spiritual eyes on the enemy and his tactics. Joshua, Jehoshaphat, Nehemiah, Esther, and Daniel had one thing in common -- they refused to dwell on Satan's intervention in their lives or their work for God. Each faced impossible situations. Yet he or she turned to God and He brought deliverance. While we do have a real enemy (Satan) who seeks our destruction, We Are Not Defenselesss. We have the strength and the energy given to us by Jesus Christ Himself. Nothing Is Stronger Than This. The same power God used to raise His Son from the grave -- resurrection power -- is ours. This is our hope: that Jesus Christ overcame the deepest, darkest, strongest evil that Satan could muster. In His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ broke the power of sin and put an end to eternal death. Satan can tempt us to sin, but we can say no to his enticement (1 Corinth- ians 10:13).We are not pawns floundering within his grasp. we belong to the Son of God, we are His and He is our Eternal King. Jesus won the victory and heralds the name of all who believe in Him before God's throne of grace. Nothing can separate us from His eternal love (Romans 8:38-39). On the other hand, the apostle Peter cautions us to "be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him in your faith . . ." (1 Peter 5:8-9). You may ask, "If Jesus Christ has won the victory, why then are we still in the battle? The reason for this is that we live according to God's timetable. He knows the exact moment of Satan's final defeat. The present victory is ours on a daily basis as we cling to Jesus Christ. However, we must claim that victory and learn to walk in the Spirit as Jesus Christ walked while he was here on earth. One of the principal reasons for Jesus' coming was to personally identify with us -- our needs, our heartaches, our joys, and even our failures. Though Jesus Christ never suffered defeat, He knew what it was like to be separated from the Father. On the cross, for a brief time, He was sequestered from God as He bore our sins. But death could not hold him.Jesus canceled mankind's sin with his atoning blood and, in doing so, set the stage for Satan's final defeat. When we realize that God understands what we are facing and is willing to provide the strength we need, then trusting Him with even the smallest details becomes a natural part of life. When Jesus returns to earth, the enemy (Satan) will suffer ultimate defeat. Jesus will establish His Kingdom, and we will reign with Him for eternity. For now, we are soldiers engaged in spiritual warfare. But we are not defeated; we have the victory when we do battle in the power and name of the livng God.
Peter's words of warning to us are not a signal to turn and run, but to stand firm in the faith, trusting God and refusing to be drawn aside by the tempt- ations and deceptions of the enemy. On of the best ways to defend and overcome Satan's ploys is to understand your position in Jesus Christ. The book of Romans is foundational in this aspect. The apostle Paul writes:"For all who are being led by The Spirit Of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, 'Abba! Father! The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Jesus Christ . . . " (Romans 8:14-17). "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:37-39). Satan is an enemy to be respected and understood. But instead of submitting to God and and His omnipotence, Satan rebelled and drew away one-third of heaven's forces with him. Jesus Christ's victory over Satan is total and complete. Try as he may, Satan can never snatch the victory out of God's almighty hand. If you are living for Jesus Christ, He will empower you to do God's will, and there you will find blessing and safety. Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:12 that our "struggle is not against flesh and blood," though many times, especially in our present age, it appears we are in a horrendous physical battle. Instead the warfare we face is "against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Satan's goal has not changed over the years. While the enemy knows his ultimate destiny, he will never give up his evil intent against the kinkdom of God until Jesus Christ banishes him to the eternal lake of fire (Revelation 20:10). The only way he can do damage to the kingdom of God now is by enticing God's beloved children to yield to sin, thus damaging their relationship with The Lord. Satan will try to discourage you by filling your mind with an array of doubts and confusion, but you do not have to believe him. The message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is given to you as a sure authority. God's Word provides all you need to know in detail about Satan. Paul also admonishes us to "Stand Firm" -- a term that denotes extreme faith in the One who gives us life and strength. But the enemy of faith is pride -- a sure road to spiritual victory. In my ministry I have seen many who have fallen because of pride and their refusal to humble themselves before God and accept his plan for their lives. This is one of the reasons why it is tremendously important to put on the entitre armor that God has given to us in Ephesians 6:14-17. The armor keeps us mindful of who is in control of our lives and who is our Advocate before The Father (1 John 2:1). On our own, we cannot defeat or even stand against the enemy. Only thru the power of Jesus Christ do we have the ability to stand and claim what God has done thru His Son. The victory took place at Calvary (On The Cross - Colossians 2:13-15). However, the moment we demand Satan's forces to leave without using the name of Jesus Christ, we position ourselves for a prideful defeat. Another way pride comes into play is when we think we are in control of our lives. God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Make a habit of claiming the armor of God each morning before you leave your house, submitting your life to The Lord as your final authority.Acknowledging your need for Him is not a sign of weakness, but of unshakable trust. When you place your faith in Jesu Christ, heaven is at your side. Are you standing fully clothed in His armor, or do you rise in the morning, grab a cup of policy, and run out the door? Do you think of Jesus throughout the day, hoping to make more time for Him in the evening, only to find other commitments taking His place? Establish and commit yourself to time alone with God. Let the life of Jesus Christ be your example. Even before His day began, which was much busier than ours, He rose to be alone with The Father. You may be a person whose life is stretched to the limit. God knows what you are facing, and He will help you make time to be with Him. Whatever transpires in your life, the wisest decision you will ever make is the decision to spend time with The Lord on a regular basis. This teaches you to recognize Satan's movement and prepares you for battle when the enemy approaches. Paul told the Ephesians they were in a war, but, clothed in the armor of God, the victory was theirs. "Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace: in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Satan). And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of The spirit, which is The Word of God . . . . Pray at all times in The Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:14-18).
